Ice can damage a roof or ceiling, which can be a mess and an expensive fix. Along with damaging the roof or ceiling, ice can also cause major water damage issues to walls and basements.
Ice dams are ridges of hardened snow that forms on the gutter of a slanting roof. This ridge tends to trap melting snow and keeps the snow or water from draining off the roof through the gutter and to the ground.
If ice dams form, water will build up on the roof and leak into the home. When it begins to thaw, water can leak into small cracks and freeze. If it freezes in these cracks, it can expand and cause serious damages. It can cause plaster removal, chipping pain, decay, and mold growth.
Letting damage occur will cost much more than a repair or preventative measure taken. If you suspect your home is at risk for ice damage, we can come to your home and give you a free inspection and estimate.
